It is important to understand that severe infection and bone loss can occur around the implant without the patient experiencing any pain or discomfort. If you have any concerns, you should have your dental implant evaluated as soon as possible.
Implantitis or Peri-Implantitis is the progressive disease (infection) of the bone and soft tissue surrounding the dental implant. Bone resorption, loss of osseointegration, increased periodontal pocket formation, and purulence are associated with this disease. If left untreated, the dental implant will be lost, and surrounding structures can also be irreversibly damaged.
