Dr. Mahn is a dental specialist who has been practicing for more than 30 years.
Dr. Mahn graduated with honors from the State University of New York in Binghamton in 1985. He graduated from the State University of New York in Stony Brook, School of Dentistry, in 1990 with awards in general dentistry and periodontics. Dr. Mahn completed his Post-Graduate Periodontal Specialty Program at the Medical College of Virginia Dental School in 1992. Dr. Mahn also completed a New York University School of Dentistry mini-residency in Temporomandibular Disorders/Orofacial Pain in 1996.

He received several awards upon graduation from dental school. Dr. Mahn has multiple awards, including an "Award of Excellence" by BioHorizons, "Excellence in Implantology" by Lifecore Biomedical, and a "Certificate of Merit" by the 2010 Yankee Dental Congress. Over the years, Dr. Mahn was voted by his peers onto the National Consumer's Best Dentist List, Northern Virginian Best Dentists List, Virginia Living Magazine Top Dentists List, and Washingtonian's Top Dentists List. Patients voted Dr. Mahn onto Angie's List Super Service Award.
Dr. Mahn teaches other doctors with articles published in peer-reviewed journals and by lecturing.
Dr. Mahn has had articles published in Quintessence Dental Techniques Yearbook, Clark's Clinical Dentistry, Practical Procedures and Aesthetic Dentistry, Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, Contemporary Esthetics, Dentistry Today, Compendium, Inside Dentistry, Decisions in Dentistry and Clinical Advances in Periodontics. Topics include periodontal-plastic (cosmetic) surgical techniques, gingival grafting, bone regeneration, dental implant surgery, and same-day implant teeth. Dr. Mahn has lectured nationally on these topics, including at the Academy of Osseointegration and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. Dr. Mahn is on the editorial advisory board of the prestigious journal The Compendium of Continuing Education in Dentistry.
Dr. Mahn believes in the pursuit of perfection. Excellence is achieved through continuing education and diligence in performance. Dr. Mahn typically doubles Virginia's state requirements for continuing education each year. He has sponsored many meetings that educate other dental professionals on periodontics, implant surgery, and implant restorations. Dr. Mahn subscribes to several journals and is a member of the Academy of Osseointegration, the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Dental Association, and the Virginia Dental Association. Dr. Mahn is also a past president of the Manassas Dental Society.
